1. Metal Straws

Metal straws became all of the rave when a massive movement to reduce waste going into the sea took over the internet. But, they are generally a much better alternative than plastic straws that fill up landfills and oceans. This pack of 12 reusable straws comes not only with two cleaning brushes, but also a baggie to carry around the straws.

2. Reusable Makeup Remover Pads

These completely changed the game for me. I felt like I was constantly running to the store to get either makeup wipes or cotton makeup pads. Making the switch to these reusable makeup remover pads has not only helped my bank account, but also my skin! Makeup wipes were very irritating to my skin and the cotton pads were better, but I just ran through a pack too quickly. 14 makeup remover pads along with a wash bag for only $17 is such a steal!

3. Safety Razor

I just recently made the swap to a safety razor from my beloved men’s gillette razor. This razor not only is much better for the environment, but it gets such an amazing shave and it is going to last forever! Don’t be frightened by the price! Buying a new pack of razors every 3 months is around $30 and for 5 years you’ll only pay $23.99 plus razor blade replacements when needed! Click here to grab a hold this awesome product.

4. Reusable Water Bottle

I am a reusable water bottle hoarder and extremely picky when it comes to water bottles. The size, color, shape of the opening, handle/no handle, etc. It all plays a part into how much I actually use my water bottle. Sadly, yes. I’m that person. Also, I found with water bottles with times on the side, it encourages me to drink water and I end up consuming more water and feeling more energetic once I’m hydrated.

5. Linen Kitchen Towels

All the linen things bring me so much joy, but they are also so much less harmful to the environment. An overconsumption of paper towels is harmful not only in the amount of pollution that is released into the environment during the production, but also how long it takes them to decompose into the earth.

6. Biodegradable Floss

Hygiene is important and just because you you choose natural, organic, sustainable hygiene options does NOT mean that it is any less effective than mainstream hygiene products. Many times, hygiene products mask themselves ask beneficial based off of scent, when really that is exactly what is damaging our bodies and earth. Floss is not exempt from having a sustainable option! This floss is biodegradable and a much better alternative than the floss found in your local drugstore.

7. Reusable Food Storage Bags

A transition to using more reusable food storage bags is one of the easiest to make. Not only are they generally more cost efficient, but our society uses them for everything, and it makes life just a bit easier. You don’t have to worry about your baggies ripping, or the zipper easily being bumped open. With reusable food storage bags, there is a little more ease about what you’re containing because of how sturdy they are.

8. Bee’s Wrap

Bee’s wrap is all of the hype at the moment. Biodegradable, reusable, all-natural, and non-toxic. Incredible! Bee’s wrap also supports bees by supporting the beekeepers that are responsible for obtaining the wax that makes the bee’s wrap. That financial support allows the beekeepers to pour their time and money into keeping their bees safe and healthy!

9. Natural Loofah

Take a breath if you didn’t know that a modern loofah was inspired by an actual loofah plant. I hope you’re all breathing. If you’re saying you knew, ya no, you didn’t. After my mind was blown, it was interesting to learn about the loofah plant and how it works and how we can use it as a more sustainable option than the plastic loofahs that are piled in most of our bathrooms.

10. Reusable Shopping Tote Bag

Reducing our plastic use by any amount is beneficial for our planet. Purchasing a reusable tote bag reduces (and using it instead of forgetting it in the car… @me) the use of plastic bags drastically! These are truly a staple and amazon offers plenty of cheap options!

11. Menstrual Cup

This. Changed. My. Life. For roughly $30, you have paid for most of your menstrual needs to have been met for the next 5 years. Yes. $40. No more spending $10+ a month on menstrual products. Menstrual cups reduce waste and also reduce your chance of Toxic Shock Syndrome significantly. Not to mention, bleeding through with a menstrual cup only happens like .0001% of the time. It does take a minute to figure out which reusable menstrual product works for you, which way of inserting and removing works best for you, and how long you can go without removing it, but the pros outweigh the cons by a landslide for me.

I know many feel that in order to have a sustainable lifestyle, Amazon along with other companies of that nature are out of the picture. However, what a sustainable lifestyle looks like is relative to you specifically. As long as we’re trying to make better choices with our consumption and doing our best to take care of our bodies, minds, and planet, we’re doing alright.

Stay groovy,

Asha Mack
